Black & White with a Pop
I really like to use black and white in my cards. I think it makes them look so classy. And when you combine black and white with a pop of color, well, then you have a classy card with personality!
For today’s cards I used Stampin’ Up! To A Wild Rose Stamp Set and Memento Tuxedo Black ink to stamp directly onto a vibrant watercolor background that I created with Pigment Sprinkles.

Pigment Sprinkles
There are so many ways you can use pigment sprinkles. In this previous post, I sprinkled the pigments onto a craft mat, spritzed with water and pressed my paper into the color for a wild free flow look.
Today, I wanted a more controlled area, so I used the Pigment Sprinkles more like a traditional watercolor.
Watercolor Wash
I added a few Pigment Sprinkles into a container and used water and a paintbrush to create a wash.
In areas where I wanted a more vibrant color I simply picked up more Pigment Sprinkles with my brush and added them to the washed area.
To a Wild Rose
Once the watercolor backgrounds were dry, I stamped the images and sentiments from the To A Wild Rose Stamp Set with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.
This stamp set comes with some great sentiments along with the beautiful rose image. Plus it’s very versatile.
- You can stamp just the outline images over a background wash like I did today.
- You can stamp the background images and hand color them.
- Or you can layer the outline image with the shaded images for a photo realistic look.
